US import tax - am I liable & can I claim it back (Australian company)

Hi guys,

I have an Australian company and want to ship $10K worth of goods from Australia to the Amazon USA facility. I have been sending things to US for a while now however the shipments have been under the tax/duty threshold so I've never had to deal with the issue of paying US import tax and duties.

I use DHL to send my goods over and they will handle collection of any duties/taxes owing on my shipments. My question is - is my company liable for the US tax even though we are an Australian company? If we do need to pay it, is there some way we can claim it back/get a refund?

How does this all work?

Understand that no tax advice can be given but if any international sellers selling in the USA have come across this issue any info on your experiences would be great.
