Hello fastlaners,
I’m Shankar from India. The bulk of my financial literacy more or less started a bit under 3 years ago after I saw my first paycheck. From there, it was a flurry of consuming finance based content mainly from books and videos online. Came across and went through the staple books most people recommend, if you are here, you most likely know their names and have read them as well, I wont name drop.
Although, I did not have money problems by any means, I was tired of the saying “Live well within your means”. I always thought why not expand your means so that you can live as you want, but at that time, I lacked the know-how and the skill set to get it done. I was also not a fan of the path the predetermined script had put me on and so, it was time for a new one. The same pattern of doing the same things week over week over week was getting mentally tiring and I craved something different.
A few months back, I started a web design course in order to obtain a valuable skill. Around the time I finished it, I happened to run into MJ's books, Fastlane Millionaire and the Rat Race Escape which was just perfect timing. Was also looking for a mastermind/community with similar inclination of sorts to join so this was the perfect opportunity for me. The books offered great insights and new perspectives to me and I have recommended the books to others as well.
Going through the book, I realized that the plan I had violated some of the CENTS framework. While I had solid C (Control) and N (Need), the barrier for entry was not that high violating E (Entry) and I would not be making any money if I was not working directly. So, my plan is to continue offering this service and post on social media to build an audience while I learn other skills on the side. I am from a coding background, so one of the options I have is improving on my skills so I can offer a better product/service or maybe the knowledge and skill I gain from marketing/selling this can be used to offer value to others. Open to suggestions or different perspectives for the same. My main goal is to have financial, time and location independence and leading by producing quality products/services regardless of what I do.
Feels glad to be surrounded by like minded people, some of whom have already made it. Looking forward to making new friends and connecting with you all ! Open to any advice or guidance and excited to share my wins.
