I'm interested in hearing from other (chart) traders how you prefer to set things up.
I'm thinking that most use time based periods as opposed to tick based periods seeing that most basic charting software either doesn't include tick charting or has only limited tick charting. As far as using candles or bars for your periods, I'm thinking that it's divided more evenly amongst traders.
Myself, I'm a time based trader and I've used candlesticks because visually, candles are easier for me. With my time based charts, I like to set up a longer period like a two or four hour for the big picture, and I will simultaneously watch a shorter term chart, for the setups I would trade off of.
Currently I've been learning about the use of tick based bar charts and can see a real value, especially with the type of trading I'm starting to do now.
So, I'm just kinda interested in hearing what other traders here use, and if you have specific reasons as to why.
