Just saw a post by @MMatt about TikTok becoming the next FBA and honestly, it hit me. Shopping is changing right in front of us.
Gen Z isn’t searching Google for the “best shit” anymore. Nobody wants to slog through endless blogs and articles just to figure out what to buy. They’re on TikTok and Instagram, letting the algorithm and creators show them what’s cool. It’s organic, it’s quick, it’s way more fun. Even my mom (Gen X) has totally changed how she shops.
Organic search (SEO) used to drive 25-40% of ecom sales. But once Gen Z starts making real money, shopping habits are gonna flip. Who actually finds stuff through Google anymore? Especially if you’re Gen Z? I can’t even remember the last time I bought something after going through a traditional search. It’s more like Reddit threads or YouTube reviews now.
Anyone else seeing this shift? With everyone turning to more hedonistic, scroll-based searching, I don’t see how SEO keeps its grip on buyers especially Gen Z and Alpha.
