It's the same situation in Canada. During covid we were hiring, we did interviews with people that didn't seem to care much about working, and it wasn't that they didn't like us - I always have the habit of checking applicants' linkedin profiles a few months after an interview. That is in the software industry. My friends that have trades/construction businesses would get applicants willing to work only for 'cash money'.
