Don't know about you guys who rely on "television commercial airtime" to get that product noticed. However, I've noticed in recent years something quite disturbing that may eventually backfire.
Had my share of conversations on & off-line with a few movers & shakers over the years. Delightful gentlemen who tell me that I'm dead wrong & need to relax even if this apparent commercialization on these networks greatly increases.
They tell me that "business is now booming" thanks to those cheap to make all-important TV spots. I say they're wrong & this overkill commercialism on those over the air digital broadcasts including non-premium satellite channels, turns the audience off like throwing a light switch...
I base this on some little-known DVR related statistics out there. After all those with DVRs don't really mind all those commercial interruptions, no,,, just as long as they can skip right through them, everything's cool.
Those not so lucky must suffer through countless repeat commercial interruptions that after a short while, has a kind of numbing affect.
Here's one perfect example of commercialism gone too far.
In my area there's Channel 24 (retroactive television) RTV. This particular privately owned & operated station plays old sitcoms such as The Incredible Hulk,Adam 12,Dragnet and so forth. I researched this station for about a month clocking the commercial breaks, program interruptions & the overall repeat commercials too.
here's what I found
Total commercial interruptions for this one hour Incredible Hulk episode = 7
Total repeat commercials = 5 scooter store, 4 safety lock, & 6 Kelsy's furniture
Total non-repeat commercials = 47...
All these incredibly boring repeats in just one hour of programming...total commercials 64
a number that was once considered unheard-of by any well-trained program station manager of yesterday.
Let's face it, if this continues the audience is going to dwindle (burnout) & so will those all-important annual sales too...
What do you dudes think? Does the overkill commercialization of certain products hurt that products consumer appeal standings...:iagree:
