Once again, I am so sorry for my absence. I moved to Washington to be nearer to my son, and the new 9-5 job for which I have signed up is more like a 9-midnight job. (Russ, you might be proud of my leapfrogging to G.M. in the hospitality world.) Still trying to find a work-life balance as well as convincing my son's mother that I'm growing my business and selling books for him. Bleh, anyway...
Can I ask how the physical book sales are done via Amazon? Does a print on demand order get fulfilled by Lulu, or has a box of books been printed and stocked by Amazon?
Well, Lulu will print on demand and fulfill, but it takes them 3 to 6 months to get to it. I decided to get the ball rolling myself and print 100 and sell them on Amazon myself. If the demand were to get so high that I couldn't handle packing and shipping them all (a guy can hope) then I could upgrade with Amazon to have them ship and fulfill. I don't know how to get them interested enough to buy and warehouse copies...
ooooo like the changes to the landing page. The photo of "winners" made me feel something IMMEDIATELY!!
Thanks for the hot tips, MJ. A/B testing is incomplete, but it favors the winners pic.
Inexperienced web users may not know you can click on "get lucky"... may want to think about adding "here" or another phrase that indicates CTA.
OK. I added a second button that just says "Buy Now."
An [auto responder] series would weave right in there beautifully...you may not have enough credibility currently, but implementing relationship building now could be very powerful.
I am using Get Response, and I just need to sit down and create two to four valuable newsletters to blast people with. I'm also working on a Luck-Struck subscription service with monthly advice, lotto picks, etc.

Good on you, Skyler!

9 to midnight doesn't sound too bad-- only 3 hours? ;)

(I kid, I kid-- I'm well aware of what days are like in this profession).

I'd wondered what happened to you-- didn't see these other updates.

Hope your move went OK. :)

FOUR MONTH UPDATE: $239
(Three copies sold in as many months)

My marketing spending dropped to zero, and so did my sales. Last week I sent free copies to some people who might do reviews or advertorials. I've been really unfocused...

16 Week Update:
Total Sales: 31 Copies ($571)
Weekly Average: 1.9 Copies ($36)

I'm still hugely distracted from my plan, but sales have been steady -- mostly through Amazon, and mostly from my Facebook group. In the coming weeks, I intend to polish my affiliate program and do a direct mailing in the local market. I'll fill you in shortly.

I haven't forgotten about you, FLTM.

Try some luck on self-improvement forums...

I can relate that it gets harder to do marketing as time progresses.. I should be marketing my blog like mad now but I have lost focus a bit too..

Gymjunkie: Good idea! I have found a few groups and fora on which I need to have a presence.

Been awhile since I've posted here at the Fastlane as I have been off doing the e-biz thing. I have been doing affiliate marketing through clickbank so I can tell you there is a huge hungry community for products like this, anything self help sells if people feel they need it.

I have not investigated too far into everything here but I assume you have some sort of site. Have you tried setting up a sales page? Why not try and market your book online first as its mostly free, and a lot easier to gain exposure.

Either yourself or hire someone (outsource it cheap) to throw up a good copy sales page explaining to people what your book offers. I mean look at the secret it was gobbled up and all it said was believe and it will happen (easiest million the author will ever probably make)

If you have any questions about getting affiliates or just internet marketing in general shoot me a PM. I know a couple of good resources for product creation "how-to" and a little bit myself. Mostly this would be for click bank or other "online vendors" but hey maybe that's just where you need this all to start.

Anyways hope all is well,
Scott

Hey, Cowxq. Thank you for your thoughts. Luck-Struck is available for sale on Clickbank, but I admit I have done a crappy job of setting it up. I need to edit the conversion page...

I appreciate the feedback, and I admit: once my son showed up, I almost immediately lost interest in my book, my websites, and my PLAN. Still trying to find my feet. If I get back on track, I'll pay a pro to do my site. I got too bogged down in trying to become good at everything to get any good at ANYthing.

Congrats on the little one, again, Skyler.

Glad to hear that your priorities got rearranged-- mine did, too.

Kids have a way of doing that (in a really, really good way). :)

Selling approximately 2/month, even though I pulled all advertising. Once I have time again, I imagine I can boost sales with a bit of effort. Thanks for staying interested.

I was thinking about this the other day! Something came up so I didn't have a chance to message you though.

How come you've pulled back on the effort in promoting it? (If you don't mind answering)

Hey Skyler,

Good to see you on here.

How's the dad thing coming?

Getting any sleep yet?

Yeah, that's why. I have no money, er "capital." Russ, he lives with his mother far away; but I still have plenty of reasons to be sleepless. Thanks for your concern.

Hopefully I'll be able to see beyond the rat race again some day soon.

I left a good positive comment on the book just for a little help... I see your progress and downfalls but if you truly want it you got to keep going. You could be only an hr's worth of work before you hit it big and it gets spread majorly.

Keep us updated!

Thanks guys! Your encouragement means a lot, and yes: I retreated and have been recovering. But I will be back. Very soon. Formulating a new PLAN. :)
