I actually finished Lean Startup yesterday - and I really liked it. As a non-technical co-founder of a business that is technology driven, it's helped me understand what our developer (who is obsessed with lean and agile) is bringing to the table. It was important - because when we first briefed our developer on the output we desire from Phase 1 - MVP, he taught us that our view of an MVP and what truly constitutes a lean MVP are two very different things. But this was great because we realized we would be building something for less than half the price we were estimating that would validate (or not) more than half of our assumptions. It saves you risk, saves you some face, saves you time - really worth it! But only if you can keep your ego in check. I guess for me that's what I take from the Lean Startup book - people must prepare to have their egos smashed and defeated for the sake of learning, which will ultimately help them to accomplish their goals - not harm them or their image. Humble, step-by-step learning is the new set of characteristics that defines greatness in the modern business age. Lean Startup by itself will not revolutionize your business though, the mindset communicated in MFL, the attitude from books such as the Go Giver...combine all of these, apply them to your product or service and may success be yours!
