I'll keep this short! Is this book worth the read? It seems to get a lot of praise but I'm very particular with my time when it comes to reading. In my opinion, MFL was as simple, clear, and actionable as it gets. I've read many other books but not a lot does it for me, like how to get rich by Dennis Felix just seemed like incoherent stories- I just want actionable information. So I'm curious, would those who have read MFL suggest this book?

Millionaire fastlane is mostly about mindset. The Lean Startup is about how to create a business using the lean startup method.

The method isn't for everybody. But, I personally found it very helpful. I plan on utilizing many of the methods in the book when launching my business.

It I essentially a playbook on how to keep your business agile and howto adapt to the market in an intelligent and efficient way.

In my opinion, 100% worth the read.

I bought it but couldn't get more than a few pages in.

I much preferred "The 7 Day Startup" by Dan Norris.

So much so that I've re-read it three times and actually have two copies.

I also liked "Built to Sell".

The audio book is much better. The author narrates it himself, so you get his passion and enthusiasm along with the information.

But I'll have to check those other two out.

I'm reading it now. Andy is right in that it doesn't grab you to where you can't put it down. However, I find the advice extremely valuable and defiantly a must read IMO. Especially surrounding topics like vanity metrics, constant feedback and ensuring you are actually growing, rather than looking like you are, but in reality actually staying stagnant, or declining.

I've listened to it on Audiobook. I didn't find myself absorbed in it like other business books i've read but for the sake of sticking it on when driving for a few days I suppose I learnt some things

I guess it also depends on what business you're in too? I'm in tech/software so I guess metrics do interest me more than it would a brick and mortar type business.

    Worth the read. As mentioned
Completely agree and would also add that by following the playbook outlined in the book you could potentially end up saving yourself a ton of time and money in the development/launch process.

    Definitely worth the read.

There's a video on YouTube of Eric Reiss talking about his Lean Startup principles.

I watched it and recall it was maybe an hour long.

Someone who had read the book told me to just watch the video. I can't comment.

Does anyone who's read the book know what video it would have been, and whether it captures everything?

    Make that two of us.

I couldn't get through it either, and I was listening to the audio version.

In my opinion it was rather dry and boring. Not sure why it receives so many mentions.

All I can really remember him saying was how bad his feedback was and how he had to pivot. That should go without saying.

If you are looking for a book that addresses how to start a product business in a "lean" fashion (without any money), then I would recommend the book "THE POWER OF BROKE" by Daymond John (Shark Tank). It's much more applicable and interesting, imo.

Thought it was kinda funny that it was used in the dollar shave club commercial at around 25 seconds.

Wasn't an easy read for me either

And you'll make your decision based on someone else's subjective opinion.
By the time you were typing this you could already open the table of content of a book, pick a chapter that seems interesting and get an impression of what you'll be into.

Regarding the book, it's great. Will you get same insights as I did from it? Probably no. Will you get actionable information? Who knows.

Agree 100% Especially because you mentioned "I'm in tech/software so I guess metrics do interest me more than it would a brick and mortar type business"

Built to Sell will be especially applicable to you.

But, that's the whole point - A lot of businesses don't constantly get feedback, evaluate and pivot as necessary. They rely on false indicators as to how well they are doing, then it is often too late to make changes, or they become drastic changes. Everyone will take away something different, but it really helped me.

I would recommend ash maurya's book(running lean) over the lean startup.

I haven't applied the concept in the real world yet. But i found the book quite interesting. Then again I love mathamtical approaches to things

I learned some speed reading tricks and now I crush two books a week on average.

Not every book is good but there's useful nuggets in all of them.

I found it too fluffy. Read some chapters, realized they just wasted my time, and threw the book at the wall.
Read a summary if you are interested in the lean startup ideas.

Lately I've been using Blinkist for my reading. No fluff. I love it.

Have you ever read good to great? Collins talks about an indicator like profit per X or whatever - takes a while to figure out what your indicator should be, but once you have it you're set for growth.

Good to great I have read and listened to the audio version. Goes very deep and can send you to sleep for sure. But, a true classic and some great take-aways. I always quote the part about, it doesn't matter where the bus is going, as much as having the right people on the bus

I agree with you here. I did end up reading the entire book though.

OP, if you do read it, skim through and read the parts of interest. Reading it cover to cover might not be worth your time.

This is the first time I've heard of this. Thanks for the recommendation.

I just signed up for the trial and read a bit. Looks legit.

    I never read it.

I found this site through a fellow forum member: http://startupguide.com/entrepreneurship/startup-ceo

It's in my bookmarks and I haven't read it fully yet but I would give it a shot.

Thank you for the recommendation :)

I recommend that you listen to it on Audible. I listened to it a few years ago during my daily commute.
I don't really think that I could have read in a book format, but as an audiobook it was a great listen.

P.S. I recommend to everyone to use Audible. It is the greatest way to use your time to learn something new even when you can't other way. Daily commute, long drivings, cooking, cleaning the house, etc..
Also if you buy the Kindle version and the Audible version of a book, it is synced all the time. Which means that you can read a few pages, after listen to it 5 minutes and when you want to read again it will know where you left off.
