An Essay to America:
The 21st Century Industrial Revolution
By Brandon K. Turner
(PARAPHRASED)
The United States economy is a violation of human rights. It exploits suffering and punishes achievement. If the poor are not being stolen from to give to the rich, the rich are being stolen from to give to the poor. We have a little bit of opportunity, but not enough for everyone. We have charity for this group, but not for that group. Our economic “recovery†applies to certain sectors of the economy…in other words; some people get the benefit of it but not others. Our children don’t slip through the cracks in public education, but fall into gorges. It took a hurricane hitting New Orleans before we finally shut our mouths about Mardi Gras and started talking about what is real. America has a class system that should never have existed in the first place. We talk about change and then do the same things under a different label. We talk about equality, yet we identify each other by political party or college attended or income level or age group. We think tolerance of different skin colors will reap such equality, yet it occurs to no one that the acknowledgment of skin color over individual character is the reason we have yet to establish said equality. We talk about justice, and then use taxpayer money to bail out failing companies. We talk about fairness, and get “revenge†with the taxpayer money by giving “credits†to people who go into debt to buy new cars or appliances…provided that they qualify. We elect career politicians to office instead of private citizens. Welfare was designed to be a crutch while people healed their legs; and then, people started using it as their legs. We have to be specific: we all do not share the same standards of living. So, what exactly are we maintaining? You are noticing a country of trickle-down, zero sum game economics. Someone has to lose for someone else to win. The STATE of the American economy is not our problem; the entire IDENTITY of the economy is the problem!
My fellow Americans, it is time to stop this. It is time to end this. It is time to change this. An INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION is the solution! Here is why…
