When I first started posting here, I had some thin skin. Most of my threads were about losing friends and not getting a long well with them. But suddenly I realized... I may only have a few friends left, but they are there for a reason. All of the other ones were cut off for the better.
With that said, this thread is not about my people problems, but a genuine question.
People on facebook.
They say "Who you chose to be around, lets you know who you are."
All of the people I am around are the people you could randomly message on facebook, they wouldn't send you a rude or snide message, they'd roll with it and have a real conversation.
I message people I don't know all of the time. I have no fear in doing so, because quite frankly, I don't F*cking care if I come off as weird or not. If anything, the responses I get weed out the people I'd want to talk, and kind of show me if this person is the type of individual I'd wanna be around.
It's strange that we can talk to people we don't know in person, waiting in line at the grocery store, or in the mall, but when it's on facebook, all of a sudden it's strange. I explained to my friend that people simply shouldn't accept my request if they have no interest in talking to me. I don't have a lot of friends on facebook, but if you were to say "Whats the percentage that you talk to!?" it would be around 85%/ 90%. So, do people just add others to get a higher number next to their name almost as a status symbol. So when you click that hot girls profile and see 2K friends you go "Uh, wow! She must be popular! Look at all of the people she's friends with".
TL;DR - Why do people accept others they don't know on facebook and then find it weird when that person reaches out and tries to communicate.
