Past few months have been really eye-opening after I read TFM and started seeing things from a different perspective.

I came to the US for my graduate school, graduated two years ago and work with a Telecom consulting company now. I was able to get through school without any loans, there was some credit card debt which I've paid off already. So, right now I have no debt but not any huge savings either.

I know it's preferred to just quit whatever you're doing and get on the fast lane but I can't do that for now... as I partially support my mom and three younger brothers.

My current full time job (I feel) is very steady but lower salary than the market... I can save very little for investment but it provides a whole lot of flexibility and strictly 9-5 working hours, which is very rare in IT/Telecom. It also provide great health benefits. If I switch job (which then will be a contract position - inherently unsteady, no health benefits) but provide me at least a 50% raise ( > money, < time saving initial investment) I make $60k right now.

I do get plenty of free time after work, to start something on the side with small investment.

Again, I understand quitting everything is something which is recommended but I can't do it.
So, I'd like to get your opinion on what should be a good way to work it out or what options you guys see I have here.
