No one owns the mortgage. The bank sliced and diced the paper into derivatives. They are stupid for not actually having gone through the process to legally get it transferred to free and clear in their names. Many people did it - the informed ones - it takes 3-6 months, but then the house is yours. If everyone did it all banks would fail - they don't want this out and the smart people that did it are not telling others - it's like taxes - the crime is not if you don't pay them, the crime is if you tell other people how you avoided them legally.
