I'm not in this position myself yet, but after reading this article:

...it made me curious if this is pretty much the norm these days, as they talk about.
Maybe some of you with selling experience (MJ, others?) can comment on their experiences on this. You can leave out $$ numbers but I'd love to hear what your typical % upfront looked like and if you were forced to deal with "buy-out" plans over time afterwards.
Either way - I thought the most important thing to learn from that article is that you should always be well prepared for a sale long time in advance. To avoid headaches with the buyer later.
