Selling a Subscriber Based Business

I've unloaded a few membership sites where the subscribers were on monthly recurring payments processed through Paypal. Since the subscriptions can't be transferred from one Paypal account to another, the subscriptions must be cancelled, and a percentage of those members won't register again with the new site owner.

I'm wondering if anyone here has experience with transferring ownership of a merchant account or online payment processor account in full? Let's say I form a business entity, and part of the business is based on recurring monthly payments from subscribers. Is it possible for that entity to have a merchant account that can be transferred along with ownership of the business so that there is no loss of subscribers during the transition?
