Ah I had not. This is very good, and true. I suppose I need to be more aware of whether I say "but" or "and." Before, I was focusing on avoiding the word "no" and focusing on "yes" - too many people start their responses with the word "no" when either "yes" or "no" would do just fine (no sounds a lot worse).

You're right, "and" is another one that sounds much better than "but."
It's about developing hypnotic influence... hypnotic influence is about bypassing people's resistance. That's what a hypnotist does too. "But" creates resistance. That resistance is bypassed if you say "and" instead. Subtle and powerful ;)
