I've noticed a lot of websites which offer downloads for video games always have the "find your girlfriend now" or "get any girl to want to be with you" ads. Marketing toward the stereotype that all gamers are lonely and desperate for love and affection.

Not really sure if this one counts, but it's worth a shot! Definitely a click-bait/scare-bait title, considering the guy making the claims said the same shit back in 2008 and considering the end of the article.

You should see it: every local news outlet online now plastering "MAJOR EARTHQUAKE EXPECTED ANY DAY NOW!" all over the place.

The beginning of the article:
"The fault that produced a 4.0-magnitude earthquake in Fremont early Tuesday morning is expected to produce a major earthquake “any day now” and Bay Area residents should be prepared, a U.S. Geological Survey scientist said."

annnnnd the very end of the article
"Brocher said Tuesday morning’s 4.0 earthquake was not likely to have much of an impact one way or the other on the likelihood of a major earthquake occurring on the same fault."

It figures, the one night I was finally able to get to sleep early I am suddenly awaken by shaking and my girlfriend screaming "OHMYGOD OHMYGOD". It probably didn't help that I was having a nightmare when it all happened.
