Who Am I & Why Am I Here?
I am a full time freelancer currently (copywriting and social media stuff) and from Ireland.
It is nearly a year since I started freelancing after graduating from university. I was all set to start a consulting job in finance, but I decided to turn my back on it and strike it out as a freelancer instead.
My freelance work started out on Elance, before moving onto a mixture of clients form Upwork, referrals and job boards. The information I learned and skillets that I have developed along the way has been startling. You really do learn at an exponential rate when you are executing and doing things rather than just reading about them. The money I have brought in this last year was decent by Slowlane standards, but I am ready to take it to a whole other level and 10x it this year.
The reason I have joined this forum is because I have finally read the Millionaire Fastlane . Having been a lurker here for over a year, I told myself that I would not join until I read the book. So here I am!
Where I Plan On Going
Having always been a deep thinker, I am constantly thinking about new ideas when it comes to all things business related.
My short term aim is to build my personal site (to show my portfolio and build my personal brand at the same time) while also starting a digital marketing agency.
My goal with the personal site is to have a home for my services and a place to showcase my portfolio. For the time being I will still be advertising my services through this site, as well as building up the blog and posting on authority sites to get noticed.
As a freelancer, there is no real way in which I can scale up by just working by myself. I want to move to a Fastlane life and get other people working for me while I reap a lot of the benefits. A lot of the time I have to turn down good projects from clients as I am simply too busy. The demand is there for me to set up an agency and take on a team of freelancers who will be able to do this work on my behalf.
While I am good at what I do in terms of copywriting and social media consultancy, my real skills lie in sales so I would prefer to focus my efforts there.
Starting off, I will offer mainly writing type services from the agency (SEO writing, blog articles, landing pages etc.) before expanding into advertising campaigns and other digital marketing avenues. The USP of the agency is going to be the stellar customer service that will be provided, as well as a number of unique perks that I am working on.
My ultimate goal will be having the agency run smoothly on its own so I can turn my focus to other projects, while still having this great income generator ticking along.
Recently I have been sending out some cold emails to people who I admire in different industries and trying to provide as much value to them as possible. These interactions have been mind boggling to me, as these high profile people have been so grateful for the value that I have provided them. I'd like to continue doing this on a regular basis, as it has already opened a lot of doors and I really enjoy helping people with their businesses.
My Immediate Plan
Over the next two days I will be starting my personal site and getting the content setup there. I will also continue working on my current client projects and start looking into getting my work posted on authority sites like Forbes etc.
Over the next two weeks, I will get the agency up and running by sorting out the name, website, legal documents etc. I will also build up a large network of freelance writers I can use for the agency, catering for all different types of writing for various topics.
To give myself time to allocate to these projects, I will see what clients would be interested in working with my team instead of myself and also getting referrals and clients for the new agency business.
This was just a big ragmatag of getting my thoughts on paper, I probably forgot certain things. All opinions are greatly appreciated and I would love to start interacting with each and every one of you. If there is anything I can do to help you, don't hesitate to ask.
