Hello Fastlane,
Thank you for be a source of inspiration and support. I look forward to getting to know many of you.
About me:
I'm a student in my mid-20s. I have never been a genius, but I have always been willing to work hard and grind. That work-ethic allowed to have professional success before returning to school and has allowed me to realized success in school.
As it currently stands, I have about $6000 in checkings/savings, $1500 in investments. I have $36K in student loans and $10K in credit card debt.
My goals:
1) Eliminate my credit card debt in the next 12 months.
2) Save $12,000 over the next 9 months.
3) Reduce eating out to only once per week.
4) Eliminate non-essential purchases i.e. clothes unrelated to work, regular coffees.
Action plan:
1) I plan to have a part-time job during the school year and also a full-time job next summer. I am not sure about the hourly rate I will earn yet. Once I know, I will report back with a more concrete action plan.
2) I plan to sell many old textbooks and things I do not have use for that may be of some value.
3) Put $500 per month to credit card debt during the school year, once I have a full-time job I expect this figure to double at least.
4) Read about the business ventures posted on this forum I can engage in while in school to increase my income, but most importantly, have the courage to act on those opportunities.
I will try to update this thread regularly with updates about my purchases, debt plan, income, and most everything else finance.
I'm an adult, so I need to be responsible for my finances, but I would appreciate your guys' constructive feedback as I update you on my journey.
Thanks again for being a resource. Good luck to all in their journeys.
