Lately, I've been going to the gym 5-6 days a week. For the past month in a half, I figure not only will it help me in learning process over events. I’ll have a better body for it and be healthier. Today was a rough day for me. About a year and a half ago I had a pretty bad accident that left my car in shambles. Fast forward to one month ago, after a year and a half of having it off the road, I finally had all the parts I needed installed, electronics set up correctly and the interior and exterior put together. I've been elated with the thing.
Due to a certain family member of mine who essentially stole my mother’s identity and got speeding tickets, etc. about 10 years ago. My mother to this day has had a hell of a time getting affordable insurance for her car. So it’s been off the road. Reluctantly I let her use mine to do the 160 mile (round trip) commute that I had given up on. Today she messages me. She crashed it.
I’m not mad at her. I’m not mad at the other driver whose fault it was. I’m furious with this ‘family’ member whose selfish actions have wreaked havoc on our lives. The whole reason I started to push to get my car in order was A) I needed it. And B) I needed it to drive to California with all my stuff. Words can’t describe the level of frustration I’m experiencing. I can’t focus on anything. My knuckles are bruised, and I just feel terrible. To top it off, my ex who I’m kind of still seeing… turns out she’s sleeping with other people, and lying directly to my face about it.
This isn't some ‘woe is me’ thread where I vent all my problems and I expect a soft pat on the back. It’s just the culmination of things and I wanted to share this lesson I've learned with the only community where I've felt like everyone is on the same page as me.
Despite how angry I was, I still went to the gym, I am still working on my projects, and I am still working towards my goals. The lesson here is remove poisonous people from your life. It doesn't matter if that person is your own mother who raised you by herself. Poisonous people can only cause horrible tears in the fabric that is your life, setting you back, distracting you. As for the ‘girlfriend’ I can’t see any good coming from her promiscuous ways, I’ll either end up catching something or heartbroken, or both.
The tough part is recognizing that this person is not a positive influence on your life and removing them quickly.
