Update -- Why a productocracy
I searched for "best cat comb 2020" because my parents' cat kept getting knotted fur.

It was getting bad, so something had to be done (even sheering him). For those who want to know, his name is Greg and he is a Norwegian Forest cat (rescued).

In my search, I found this product (I've forgotten how it appeared now), but what struck me was the number of Vet & professional groomers who recommended it. The product itself isn't anything revolutionary; it's just a sharp edge designed to cut the undercoat of a cat or dog, removing all the fluff that often leads to knots etc.

Here are some of the examples of recommendations I found:

The thing that eventually sold me was the amount of fur they were removing.

As you can see in the videos above (some of which are professional groomers), the amount of dead fur on a cat or dog can be staggering. This is the fur which often leads to knots, or shedding.

This in mind, one was purchased, and (surprisingly) the cat actually enjoys being groomed with it, as well as it solving the core matting/knotting problem. An all round good product... and (as far as I am aware), the only one of its kind on the market.

I'd take a look at the "great value" thread...

Lots of productocracies in there...

MJ, I just reread your definition of a productocracy. Surprisingly I think my business is one based on the push pull, no advertising and word of mouth recommendations. Curious to hear what your opinion is.

Was surfing google looking through images to find one of MJ's old book cover (yikes)....

When I kept seeing some really nice images about Millionaire Fastlane that caught my eye.

So I decided to check it out, and it turned out the guy is a devout follower of the Fastlane...

He's doing MJ's job for him and helping him promote all 3 of his books and his brand.

I write all of that to say - MJ, you've done it again, your products are true productocracies.

Sounds like it, but only you would know...

  • Do people review your company favorably?
  • Do customers refer other customers to you?
  • Do customers have a sense of loyalty to your business, even if offered a competing product at a slightly cheaper cost?
  • Do customers reorder?
  • Do sales continue, or even grow, despite little advertising?

If most of the answers are yes, then you're likely running a business productocracy.

I always thought a productocracy was about having a unique product. But based on your questions, I do have one.

1) We get great reviews
2) All of our growth is word of mouth
3) Our products are generally $2-$5 more than competitors
4) Yes all the time
5) We don't do any PPC or advertising at all
