This isnt an advice asking thread so dont respond if you dont want to. Just thought that I would comment on something I noticed. Its a bit of a rant.
When I was a little younger (im 25 now) I had an amazing bunch of friends. we all went out all the time and I feel like every conversation we had was about how awesome this or that thing we were about to achieve was going to be. we talked about being rich, about owning Ferraris etc etc.
Then most of them finished university and got jobs. I feel like now whenever I go out with the same friends all they ever talk about is office politics, and work, and... I donno, nothing. They all let go of their fitness, some are getting married, other seem like they never will but the main common thread I see is that they just seem to have given up on their dreams. When I talk about my dreams they feel its their prerogative to give me a "reality check".
My parents are the same, they tell me that "Life is hard", "life is about sacrifices", whenever I have an outside of the box idea they ask me "when are you going to grow up?", "you have to work for your money". Even my father who has business that makes 3 or 5 times the average income thinks that he got there only because he is willing to work 80 hours per week.
I never ever want to let go of my dreams. I will achieve them or die trying, I just feel like living without dreams isnt really living at all. Its something Ive known my whole life. But how does one continue to feel sane when everyone is telling you that you arent? I mean, sometimes I feel like I am childish. I dont think I am lazy, I just dont see a point in working aimlessly, Id rather be working toward something.
How do you keep motivated? Id love to find more likeminded people, I just dont know where.
anyway, I just felt like getting that off my chest.
