Previously, I made a post about a website I am working on. Some people thought I was selling fake Timberland boots. If they were fake, I wouldn’t enter that market, because I wouldn’t have an exclusivity contract with the Timberland brand and everyone would enter my market, causing a price war.
However, the best option is to build your own brand and not sell someone else’s (that would only be cash flow). The commandment of control by MJ DeMarco would not exist if I were selling counterfeits, and even selling a brand that is not mine also violates this commandment.
On the other hand, I wanted to talk about the commandment of necessity, because if at some point you think about selling clothing or shoes, I believe you would do poorly, since there is no urgent need and no real problem. Well-known brands sell STATUS, not a shoe… unless you sell a shoe that solves a real problem, such as toe pain or a specific medical condition (aspirational desire vs. real pain).
