Perhaps a fun story for the people in doubt.
For my final year I am making an innovative HR product. It's a selectiontool and it's an web application. I showed my teacher the idea and he was all for it, except he wanted to see atleast a mock up. A mock up was easy to make with paint and powerpoint but I was not happy. My grade would be enough to pass if I kept the mock up but I want to be sure I get a good grade.
I searched for somebody on the internet to help me make it. I found somebody on the other side of the world. He asked me how It needed to look and how it would work. I made a powerpoint that explained every page of the app. Two hours later he had an working prototype which I can show my teacher.
It's pretty cool to see a programmer loves coding so much that he is willing to help another guy, somebody he didn't know, for free. He told me it was good for his karma and it would be a huge help for me, it is.
If I focus my attention on getting the right people around me in my network and spend more attention and energy there, instead of learning how to program.. who knows what I can accomplish with the right team around me.
