As a video guy, it's something that's been asked of me on more than one occasion by some crass friends. Is creating porn, something I'd get involved with.
The answer has always been "Absolutely not".
Not only because I'd be incredibly uncomfortable in such a situation, but also most people who work int he industry get blacklisted from other video gigs. Not something I'm interested in doing, not something I'd want to do, not something that would be a great career move for me.
That being said, there's an opportunity out there for whoever wants to take it.
I had this thought after having an extensive conversation with a few of my female friends. Some of which enjoy watching internet porn. But they don't watch the same stuff that most guys watch. They're more specific about what they choose to consume. I was very interested because I hadn't heard the POV of women in the situation.
The adult industry is traditionally dominated by men (no pun intended). Pornographic material is unpopular with most women. I wonder how much of this unpopularity stems from the extreme content being produced by men who want to see fulfill their extreme fantasies?
The ladies I talked to only consumed pornography with an actress they could relate to. That is, put themselves in her shoes. I believe guys do the exact same thing. Because men and women have different sexual appetites, and men are in control of the industry, there's an unintended side effect of there being minimal porn stars typical women can identify with.
The success of 50 Shades of Gray shows that even intense sexual content can be sold on a large scale to women if presented the right way.
I haven't read the book, but I've researched it a little bit, read summaries, excerpts, and reviews. From what I can piece together the book stars a brunette soft spoken female protagonist. She has a bitchy blonde best friend. She meets a man who is an attractive rich playboy who stops sleeping around with other women after meeting her. She is 'forced' to unleash her sexual side, submit, and try new things.
I can't help but feel that creating similar content, but in video pornography intended for women would be a hit. A well developed female protagonist they can relate to, living out secret desires and fantasies. Rather than the male driven pornography with people having sex just for the sake of having sex.
I predict an emerging industry in video 'mommy porn' and anybody who has the guts can take the reins on this and make millions.
