Hi everybody!
I'm about to start my ecommerce adventure.
My plan is to start importing from China to resell to Amazon.com

I need your advice for the very first step: where should I base my business?

I'm currently based in Belgium (slow lane still :() and I have no clue on where I should/must base my business (VAT, taxes & co).

Since I'm going to selling to Amazon.com, should I base my business in the US?
Or since I'm resident in Belgium, should I base my business in Belgium?

Not sure about Belgium laws but US citizens or residents don't pay taxes on $100k of their income if citizen or resident lives outside of US. https://www.irs.gov/individuals/international-taxpayers/foreign-earned-income-exclusion

consult an accoutant, where I come from, you will still have to pay taxes because 'belgium ' will be your 'central of living' thats how the government in my country defines it.

Meaning you pay taxes where you live

And you can start a business in the US for sure, the question is how much you'll need to pay in Belguim.

But dude more important don't dwell on that, call an accountant right now, get your answers and lets roll... you need to focus on selling your products, let the accountant handle the tax

I run my biz from India but it's registered in the UK and we sell in the US. My accountant tells me that corporation tax will be reduced down to 18% soon and may down to as low as 15% after Brexit.

I'd recommend the UK. It's simple and cheap to get started.
