Books are good but reading too much can keep you broke.
@ZCP talked about a read/apply cycle.
If you just read books on getting in shape but never went to the gym, you would struggle. Or if you just went to the gym but never learned the basics of nutrition and hypertrophy, you would also struggle.
I like to find a good book and fully apply it before moving on.
Yeah a good point brought up by Naval was not too waste your resources completing a book just because it's a classic/best-seller.
Just take what you need and implement it. Rapid feedback/iteration is key.
You do need an overall strategy (CENTS is more than enough) unless you're in R&D or doing things as an experiment.
Some people just get luck upon stuff from whatever the market/other people want and keep doing that.
