Hello!
I’m Sarah from St. Paul Minnesota. Minnesota is known for many people; Prince, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Bob Dylan, and Josh Hartnett. Headquarters to numerous large (Fortune 100&500) corporations such as Best Buy, Target, General Mills, 3M, United Health Group, Ecolab, U.S Bancorp, Medtronic and more. I’ve never been interested in working for a large company, I don’t like the corporate politics.
I did things in a much different order after high school than most. I joined the Air Force after graduation and served 4 years active duty as a medic/LPN. In my 20s, I started a family and my own business with my husband. Later I attended college and am now in graduate school.
I know college to some is deemed unnecessary and I agree on some level. I made more money with my online business than I ever have working for someone else with my degree. But, with that said, college was a personal life goal or bucket list accomplishment for me. Plus, I love writing and learning.
Recent Events
I had a decent yet under-paying job at a national company. I worked in the corporate location here in MN. I was an IT application support manager and was told that my team would be let go and asked to re-apply under a new dept. I looked for work and took the first high paying job I found. I thought I had it made. This was either the biggest mistake I’ve made in a long time or an opportunity to work for myself again.
The new company was unprofessional and I was actually bullied by two women my age who were jealous of me; unbelievable behavior. I don’t like negative work environments or being harassed. I quit after 4 months for the sake of my own mental health. It’s been almost 4 months now and I’m running out of funds. I’m looking for jobs and going to school. To make life more complicated, I’ve been trying to move to Florida on my own for over 2 years but I’ve had no luck finding a job there. I’m no longer a teenager who is interested in the winters here. They are dark and depressing.
I still have my website business and its time to take it more seriously for the cash cow it once was and can be again. I let it slide after a Google penalization I had no control over, which pretty much killed it. Reading TMF a few years ago lit a fire under my a$$, made me realize what I already had so I scraped together everything and took out credit to rebuild my business. I paid an arm and a leg 2 years ago for a beautiful new professional mobile friendly website.
Current Status:
Unfortunately, the new site left me with nothing more to put into my business. I need capital to fund some things but I’m working on organically growing SEO as well. I really am no expert at this but my competitors have endless funding for paid advertising and SEO gurus on the payroll. I’m kind of stuck here and have been looking at partners or SEO affiliates. Investing is out of the question as my business is not making money right now. Similarly, if you have a website like mine you MUST have an app which I do not. Again, another expense I have to figure out. **This is not a solicitation, I’m simply describing my situation.
Any tips on this forum and where I should start would be great. It’s kind of overwhelming. I’m not a forum person but I believe this one may be worth it.
