I just found about this book today while browsing my Twitter feed.

It already has glowing reviews from James Clear (Atomic Habits) and Cal Newport (Deep Work).

It'll be released September 28th.

It's available in Audible and Kindle. It comes out on Tuesday.

If you pre-ordered the book, he sent you the PDF to read it in advance. He also sent you a short video course about the book.

I read the book and it was great.

I had many key takeaways from the book.

He discusses how ego depletion is folk psychology. In other words, willpower is not a finite resource.

Ego depletion only works in those that believe in ego depletion. The quantity and quality of your willpower is based on your belief in yourself.

Also he discussed how all distractions start with internal discomfort. If you want to master distractions, you must first master your discomforts.

Time management is really pain management.

Another takeaway was that he mentioned that people aren't motivated by seeking pleasure and avoiding pain.

Seeking pleasure is simply avoiding the pain of wanting.

So, all of our motivations are based on avoiding some form of pain.

You can accomplish everything you want, if you can find a way to deal with life's pains. He gives good strategies on how to do that in the book.

The book was great.

His first book, Hooked, was great as well.

That is the link to a post from the author of the book. The post seems to reflect his understanding of developing the ability to focus.

Since his book is not out yet, I do not know how much more valuable the wisdom in his book compared to the post. If the book is anything like his post, but better, then I cannot wait to get it.

If you pre-order the book, you'll get instant access to the PDF e-book.

If you don't like the PDF e-book, you could always cancel the pre-order before September 10th.

The audiobook is available for sale.

Seems like Amazon/Audible has been doing this a lot lately (Releasing the audiobook before the physical book/ebook.)

Probably trying to get people to sign up for the audible subscription.

It's all about that recurring revenue.
