"How to win Friends and Influence People" will get you to understand the basic principles of human conversation. From there on you just need to practice talking and participating in debates.

Over time you will get better and people will notice it.

I'd like to add something non-book related which would help you faster and more practical: lookup a toast-masters-club near you. I joined one of them many years ago and learned so much about how to hold speeches, how to prep a speech in 2 min, how to debate, how to convince and influence. Very valuable.

Keep in mind that certain skills can't be learned through books.

Imagine trying to learn to swim by reading. No matter how many photos it included and no matter how well it was written, you're going to flounder when you hit the water because you simply have no practice.

Books like this are great for helping you understand what to focus your practice on and how to avoid mistakes and increase your chances of success, but it all means nothing unless you're jumping in the water and practicing what you're reading.

I was in telesales for over a decade. I've read a lot of books on sales and many helped me quite a bit but they would have all made no difference at all if I wasn't on the phone every day.

I've heard nothing but great things about toast master clubs.

Big +1 to this - toastmasters was amazing for me and is not only low cost but super effective.

As you asked for books, I'll add "Never Split The Difference" by Chris Voss. It's specifically on how to negotiate and win.
