This is how you sell knives for four figures:
Jay Fisher: Knife Maker, Artist, Photographer, Writer; Home Page
Now, this website "template" is about a decade+ old, but the pictures of the knives are awesome and the text is awesome. He spends tens of thousands of words describing why these knives are worth paying several grand for vs. buying something at a convenience store for $5.
Fisher's wait list to buy a customer knife is YEARS long (48 months).
That's how you sell a $3,000 knife.
Your site should have a similar page about the glories of a fabulous knife for food prep:

Why should I spend thousands on kitchen knives? Here's how Jay explains why to spend thousands on his tactical knives:
Top twenty reasons Jay Fisher knives are worth your money
The first thing you have to have is a knife that is worth $3000.00. The world in general knows very little about knives, and about fine knives, they know even less. By educating the public with realistic facts on why a knife is worth $3000.00 and not $300, is essential, but first you have to have a knife that is worth it! A factory made Japanese knife that is sold on the "Japanese fighting spirit" does not evoke either quality or experiential distinctions. Heartbeat of nations? Mystery? What the heck is it made of? How is it made and by whom? That's not a manufactured knife, is it? Do you really want to know why a knife sells for $3000.00? Two reasons: a client recognizes the value, and he can afford it. A guy that will drop 3k on a knife generally KNOWS KNIVES and knows the difference between a handmade work of investment grade art, and a knife that is manufactured in a foreign factory. No matter how good the ad copy, if you don't have a viable, established product and a proven record (16th century sword-smiths non-withstanding), you may sell some of them, but you won't have a successful business. I could go on and on (and often do), but I'll stop; you probably don't want to hear from a real knifemaker who's been at it for 30 years... About my old website: yes, it's just photos and words, a little PHP, and no CGI or Java, trickster CSS, or mousovers, or any of the gizmos that people use to get the attention. Just facts, photos, and realistic comparisons and 3 million hits a month. And, currently, I'm five years in backorders, and out of time for this post. Seems SEO is not so complex after all.
