Hi all,
Basically I'm making this short post to give an update about my web design journey. This could turn into a progress thread, but I won't be updating my progress every week given my situation. I've been on this forum quite some time, and I'd figured I may be able to offer some value showcasing my progress from a beginner, so why not?
I've been learning about building websites for quite a while, and I am very comfortable building them on a variety of platforms but primarily webflow. I am in @Fox 's course for the last few months which is brilliant. I am currently at the portfolio stage- So I am building websites for clients for free or at very low costs to build up my portfolio, which then I can leverage upon to get paying clients. I currently have two portfolio clients lined up, one for a window cleaning company which I am going to start very soon, and another client who runs a digital marketing agency that wants a portfolio website done. Another important note is that I have a paying client lined up for the future (he's not ready yet), and he is in the financial services industry.
I'm also working a full-time job for the summer as an accountant intern, I'm in college, and I play a lot of sports so finding the time can be hard, but I don't use it as an excuse. Finding clients has been difficult, my main method is cold emailing businesses. I don't have personal connections to utilize, but I will look into other methods such as cold calling, social media dm's, social media posts, local community groups, etc. If anyone has any recommendations on finding more clients, let me know. I'm sure that once I get initial results, I can leverage them to grow my business.
No, I don't view web design as a long-term career, and I will pursue a fastlane business in the future that is detached from my time. However, I think this is a great way to get some business experience and to provide value, similiar to how MJ started. I also have other thoughts in mind to grow my business to more than just a web design company- offering other services such as SEO, google ads, fb ads, etc- but that is all ahead of me.
If anyone needs any help with websites, or knows of anyone who needs it, let me know and I'd be more than happy to help free of charge as I'm only at the start of my journey. Thanks for taking the time to read this post, and I hope you get something valuable from watching my journey.
Thanks,
Adam.
