Hello all,
I've been an on and off lurker for some time now and finally decided to join the forum, coinciding with me taking some steps towards a life on the fast lane.
I've been aiming to become a sales rep for any of the top additive manufacturing companies in my city, making income off of a percentage of net profits for the sales I close. I would be pitching products and services from the low 5 figures to the high 6 figures and possibly higher. My current job is a mediocre service/sales job for the utility company which offers no commission and is becoming too physically taxing. Despite my young age as I am still in my mid to late 20's, I am convinced enough is enough and don't want to compromise my health any longer, along with me deciding my time is worth more than what I'm being paid for.
As for my sales plans, I dabbled in this exploit a few years ago, attempting to build a pipeline through cold calling and emailing. Quite frankly, I was all over the place as I was working completely off of a dwindling savings account which limited me psychologically and practically. I also didn't seek out the proper guidelines on how to execute my operations. Nevertheless, I managed to generate a warm lead and eventually the prospect reached out to me confirming they were interested in a particular product. Due to my naivete, a lack of proper follow up and a variety of other reasons, that company eventually bought from someone else. This was rather tough to hear at the time, as it felt like I let one slip away but it reinforced my notion that there are always buyers and some people just simply need to be reached out to.
Fast forward many years later and I am looking to continue what I started. I'll be making a thread later on explaining my situation more and what the forum thinks.
