My story starts in February of 2021.
I am just like any ordinary 18 year old college kid in the 21st century.
I spend my days playing videogames, watching YouTube and the likes, and indulging in other instant gratification activities.
I tune into one of my favorite YouTubers, John Doyle, not really thinking about what might happen next.
His latest video is a 2 hour lecture about the imminent dangers p will have on society.
This hits me hard.
I reflect.
I decide that I need to become better for the sake of myself, my loved ones, my future family, for my community and ultimately the world.
I start off very slow and inconsistent, with my only goal being to quit p.
A month or two goes by.
I do anything I can to get rid of this mental plague, I play more videogames to distract myself.
That doesn't work, and I realized I just wasted a ton of time.
Another month goes by.
May is when I truly begin to kick things into gear.
I start taking fitness seriously, began working a job, started reading, meditation, and stopped playing videogames.
Summer is here and school is out, but I know I can handle all of my good habits and still do a summer class, so I do that.
I am doing this all in the name of burying the urges to watch p.
I find one particular self help channel on YouTube, Hamza.
He shares his top recommended books that changed his life.
He mentions The Millionaire Fastlane and UNSCRIPTED .
I order every book from his list, but I chose UNSCRIPTED over TMF .
From late August to November, I read every book from his list starting with the mental health books first.
My philosophy is that poor mental health is the biggest limiting factor in achieving your goals and living up to the standards you set for yourself.
I finally free myself from p addiction.
I get to UNSCRIPTED, but I'm not done with the whole list yet.
Immediately, I see myself as an entrepreneur, (fiduciary first!).
I finish UNSCRIPTED.
I discontinue reading the rest of my books, I can't waste another moment, and I spend the entirety of December planning my first business idea.
I want to develop an app to improve the effectiveness of intelligence workers, big and small.
Now it is present day.
You are the sum of the top 5 people you spend time with, and that is why I decided to join this forum.
It feels so much better to be part of a tribe of likeminded individuals instead of being a lone wolf.
