what's cool about this one is the conflicting time signatures whereas the guitar is in groups of 7 and the drums are in groups of 2. creates a spin sorta feel.

amazing player! check out the dynamic structure and control! I saw him a few years back with Dweezel doing the Zappa does Zappa tour and Vai alone got a standing ovation! Incredible talent!!!

Terry Bozzio Drum Clinic

for all the drummers who have an understanding of 8th notes, 16th notes and paradiddles, Terry gave an exercise a while back where he said if you could do it, you could do anything on the drums. The exercise itself breaks the natural tendency for the limbs to want to rely on eachother and I guess you could say that it's kinda like the old pat the head and do circle on the stomach coordination trick.

Here's the exercise:

With the hands, do 16th note paradiddles and at the same time do 8th note paradiddles with the feet.

If you can do this, you are developing the right and left hemispheres of your brain simultaneously. It does get much more involved than this but try getting through this first!

Wow! What a Great thread. So many cool motivational songs. I have a couple of motivational songs written especially for business owners which I'm singing but I didn't know if it was ok to post them here as they are two audio recordings on my website.
