I've purchased the tickets, consulted an immigration lawyer, and have an apartment ready—a familiar place where I've stayed before. I'm familiar with the city and its surroundings.
Travel has been a part of my life since I turned 20. When I first visited Thailand, I instantly fell in love with tropical countries—the balmy weather, brilliant sun, the mesmerizing barrier reef, the joys of snorkeling, the crystal-clear waters, and the friendliness of the people. The affordable living costs and the more liberal lifestyle simply confirmed my affection. After my initial two-month sojourn in Thailand, my perspective changed, pushing me towards online income streams.
Initially, I ventured into cryptocurrency, which was an addictive roller-coaster for me. I spent 2-3 years attempting to master day trading and overall trading strategies. Although I lost significant amounts early on, eventually, I managed to find a trading style that generated a decent side income—about $500 to $1000 per month from a capital of $4-6k.
Consistency, however, was my Achilles' heel. I would intensely focus on a task, working on it obsessively for long hours, only to later lose interest. This inconsistency hindered my progress. Complicating matters were issues with platforms like Cryptopia, UST Luna, Blockfi, FTX, and Celsius. Even as I earned steadily, these platforms would collapse, taking my hard-earned money with them.
Spending endless hours behind screens took a toll on my mental well-being. By 23, I experienced significant hair loss, culminating in my decision to shave my head—a move that symbolized a new beginning for me.
Seeking real-world engagement, I acquired a barman certification and moved to France, near Monte Carlo. I worked strenuous hours at a restaurant in Monte Carlo, only to later shift to a more relaxed job outside the city. Yet, the monotony and lower pay ($1500/month) felt unrewarding. Knowing that yacht deckhands earned better, I obtained the necessary certifications and transitioned to the yachting industry, first earning €2500, and later, as I advanced, nearly €3800—all without expenses.
But yacht life, with its cramped living spaces and exhausting work hours, wasn’t sustainable long-term. That’s when I stumbled upon a YouTuber discussing self-publishing. I invested in his course and, after some early setbacks and invaluable networking, started earning from publishing. My revenues peaked at an impressive $8k per month, with a 50% profit margin.

However, as my self-publishing revenue started to plateau, I began to explore the world again. My travels took me to incredible diving spots in Indonesia, the Red Sea, Mexico, and the Philippines. Among all these places, the Philippines and Mexico captured my heart the most. Given my girlfriend's Spanish roots and Mexico's promising potential for her photography career, we decided to relocate there.
I'm fluent in English, Italian, Spanish, and French, with diverse work experiences ranging from being a barman to a yacht deckhand. Currently, I manage a self-publishing business that fetches me around $2000-$2500 net per month post-tax. While I aim to boost these earnings, I'm also keen on exploring other avenues like rank and rent, Google ads, and sales in Mexico.
With an emergency fund of $20k, additional savings and investments of around $80k, and a consistent self-publishing income, I believe relocating to Mexico is a wise move. I hope this new chapter challenges me, pushing me out of my comfort zone, just as the pressures of the yachting industry did. My goal is to surround myself with like-minded entrepreneurs, thrive in a dynamic environment, and escape the stagnation of my hometown.
