Really, I heard it was just OK and all the hype is just because of a crowded theater. If you see it at home on your couch it would suck. Anyone else see it?

Just got back from seeing this not going to spoil anything but I thought it was entertaining. Slow start but gets good. I agree that this movie at home wouldn't be the same since the theaters sound. I should have got there 30 min early, I couldn't find a seat and had to sit in the third row nose bleed section.

I think they did a good job with advertising this movie. Just got a email from them too.

You Demanded It. Paranormal Activity. Midnight Exclusive Party. You Demanded it and we want to thank you. This Thursday night, at 10 theaters only, we will host an exclusive Paranormal Activity party. Here's how it works:

The first 10 theaters to sell out the 12:01AM showtime on 10.23.09 (to clarify 11:59PM 10.22.09 | 12:01AM 10.23.09) will receive an exclusive Paranormal Activity party.

Here's how you can make this happen in YOUR town:

Simple. Buy your ticket for the 12:01AM showtime on 10.23.09 (remember, some theaters may list 11:59PM 10.22.09)

Tell everyone you know to do the same.

Forward this email to everyone you know. Post on Facebook. Twitter. You get the idea.

To keep track, we'll keep a list of the first ten sold out theaters here

Check back often and help get your theater on the list!

Re: Movie made for $11,000 has made $7.9 million so far. Fastlane

Saw this movie last night. I thought it was decent. The girl I went with was scared sh!tless as were many many other girls in the theater. Guys not so much. The movie probably has something to do with this, but I won't go into detail.

Going into it I already knew that the movie was made on a $15,000 budget so I knew that there weren't going to be any special effects or B-movie gore. The movie picture quality is pretty bad, the film IMO was not made for theaters as it was fuzzy to me (after getting used to watching HD all the time). It did feel like I was watching a youtube video for 90 minutes.

But with all that said and being a member of the fastlane forums I loved the movie's profitability. Turn 15k into 10M. I love the premise that less is more. Silence is alot more scary than loud noises. No FX (shadows and thumps) is much better than CGI's monsters. One thing I was so glad was the absence of music. I hate movies that play scary music so you know something is about to jump out. Much of the movie was in dead silence.

More movies should be like this. Many scenes were just a plain video camera staring at a room with nothing moving. I'm sure everyone, like me was scanning the whole screen trying to figure out if anything is slowly moving or really trying to hear footsteps. The theater was so quiet during many scenes.

If you go see this, definitely see it at prime time in a crowded theater.

A lot of the same sucess of those youtube movies where you are watching a car quietly on the screen looking for one thing then get something else pop up and scare the shit out of you. Less = a lot more in that sense

Haven't seen it and is not my kind of taste anyhow (no offence). Everything is hype though. Absolutly everything. From sex to the newest gadget. From love to God. Everything is hype and B.S.

You will all see the truth about this. I mean I have seen many products and services and many of them have gotten me a little confused about why people even found that product or service cool in the first place. They all felt so lame and like everything else on the market. But, well, hype for some and crap for another. Everyone to his own.

It is all in your cute heads. That is where the hype is. When someone presents something to you that are congruent with that pre-hyped fantasy of yours, you just click with it. We have some weird wiring up there.

My dad ate ketchup on his pancakes. Crappy idea according to me, perfect to him.

Saw a article today, this movies is still making a ton.

Micah Sloat Obituary Doesn't Exist: 'Paranormal' Star Lives! - Inside Movies

made-for-$11,000 'Paranormal' is scaring up big bucks at the box office. After earning an impressive $7.7 million in 160 theaters in its first weekend, then grossing an astounding $20.2 million in 760 theaters last weekend, the film scored another $22 million this weekend to cut the mighty 'Saw VI' down to size, claim the No. 1 spot at the box office and raising its overall gross to a scary good $62.5 million.

Also like 'Blair Witch,' moviegoers are leaving 'Paranormal' screenings scared to bone and convinced that the footage they've just seen is real.

Re: Movie made for $11,000 has made $7.9 million so far. Fastlane

Small indie films are a lot more profitable than most major studio releases. A film that makes $10M at the box office is a failure if the film cost $35M to make, but a huge success if the film cost $2M to make. A lot of distributors are seeing that A-list talent doesn't really put butts in seats. Why pay an actor $10M when you can get someone just as good for $100k?

It was pretty boring. I walked out after 15 minutes.

What!! 2yrs ago lol. I was reading another thread and saw the 'Similar Threads' and it led me here. Oh well, I guess you can still find old threads that are useful and amusing :D. I was wondering why they never spoke about Paranormal 3 lol.

I might make a movie one day...with no budget and see what I can do from there ;)....and no its not porn K
