Million $ web corporation marketing. What are we looking at?

So the thing is:
A friend of mine starts an phone-games company. It's real and it's big. Big money on start, great unique idea, professional coders, screenplayers, designers, etc. - you name it. With good marketing it's a hit.
And he wants me to deal with the marketing.
The problem is - I've never done anything like that. I have no idea how to deal world-wide. Should I keep to the web, or advertise in the real world too? I mean - I really miss the basics here.

I've got some ideas, obviously, but really would appriciate your help and experience. Especially if someone actually had some experience here.
