If I didn't hate my job, I'd shut up, stay put, happily cash my check, and I wouldn't be posting here. Some people get off on the type of work I do, but I'm thinking I may have made a mistake. I could possibly Money Mustache it, but I honestly don't know how much more I can take.
After HS graduation I got started on an engineering degree, after learning the types of physical hardship and mediocre pay that trade work brought. Years later, after part-time under-the-table self-employed jobs, full-time work in truck shops, and full-time college schedules I graduated with a BSME. Now I sit in a cube with no window, grinding my life away for that $1700/80 hrs that another member posted about.
If not for the current circumstances, I would've bailed by now. I'm not going to burn this bridge, but I will be done in 6-8 months. At the very least I'll be driving a truck, working every day, and paying the bills. I've never been in a position with so much opportunity. A small investment in tooling will get me the fab shop I've been wanting. A few quick mods to an unused truck can potentially earn the company $140/hr. I have a killer BBQ sauce recipe that I can bring to market. WA is the place to start a distillery. I have a good amount of experience with product development, prototyping, machining, and injection molding. I may have enough dough to launch something without going into debt.
Unless this thread takes off, I'll hash all of this out in greater detail in a more appropriate forum. I'm looking forward to getting something off the ground. Thanks in advance for any advice.
