MacBook Air or Dell XPS 13 Laptop for programming?

I don't know what kind of coding you want to do but I have a Dell XPS 13 and it's great. The only real thing I don't like is the camera because it's at the bottom and the angle for video calls are a bit odd but that's only a little minus point.

The performance is great and I don't know what performance you think you need for coding but my experience is that you don't need such a great performance anyway. I code for university in Java and for my website in PHP and everything is working smoothly. Maybe the IDEs take some capacity but with the Dell this won't be an issue (at least for me ^^). I use Eclipse for Java and Visual Studio Code for web development. A fellow student uses the same computer and loves it as much as I do.

The weight is great. It's great to use on travelling but sometimes the brightness is a little to low when you are working outside with great weather. But still a great laptop.

Highly recommended.

I'm pretty sure @LitaVK has made her purchase by now. If not, its taken her nearly a month to make a relatively trivial life decision, and she has bigger problems

Yeah I made the purchase already Already deep into learning how to code!!

But really appreciate all the advice! I went with the XPS mainly due to the performance capabilities and because I'm a newb in programming. I figure I can always get a Macbook/ mac desktop if need be when I'm more advanced

My choice if you are going to buy a Mac get a 2012 used one, max the ram and put an SSD. You won't notice a significant difference and you should be able to get all of that for around 500 bucks.

Non related to the original question but I read you are planning to "learn" C, PHP, JS, C# ... please don't. That's the perfect recipe for failure. Stick to a couple of languages and make things happen with those. If you want an cross platform app, go JS and learn Electron.
