Working in manufacturing in Romania, I’ve noticed that many companies still struggle with outdated, slow HR software. At my current workplace, attendance used to be tracked in Excel, which created opportunities for employees to manipulate their working hours. The company eventually switched to dedicated HR software, but the system is already outdated and far from ideal.

After talking to people working in restaurants, hotels, and transportation, I’ve noticed that some businesses still rely on paper-based attendance records, where similar issues can occur.

My idea is to build a modern, lightweight HR platform using employee badges for clock-in/clock-out, with accurate attendance records, centralized data, and eventually additional HR features.

Before investing significant time and money into building it, I want to validate the idea properly.

For those who have built SaaS products or B2B businesses:

  • How would you validate demand for something like this before developing the product?
  • Would you start by interviewing business owners, HR managers, or employees? How would you approach them?
  • Would you build a simple MVP first, or try to secure a pilot customer before writing much code?
  • How would you determine whether companies would actually switch from their existing systems?
  • Is there anything specific you would investigate before entering a market with established HR software providers?
I’m particularly interested in practical advice from people who have validated and launched B2B SaaS products.

I’d rather discover that the idea isn’t worth pursuing now than spend months building something nobody wants. Any advice or criticism is welcome.
