So I'm in the middle of prototyping, and should have a viable model in 1-2 months hopefully. Maybe naive, but F*ck it.
My next plan is to check if I can patent it, then run a Kickstarter, and call up major retailers of this kind of product.

Now that's all fine, but I have no idea how the logistics work, or rather how it's best handled.

For a manufactured product, would you look for fulfillment in China, USA, Europe? Or just let a single company handle the management?
How much extra do I need to calculate for these things?
Size is roughly like a phone
maybe I'm overthinking it?

It’s always good to plan ahead.

Lots of people plan for stages they’ll never reach. That’s called overthinking.

If you sell in all of them and sales are constant, sure.

What troubles me is that you want

My next plan is to check if I can patent it,

Before you validated the idea.

What’s your pre launch marketing looking like?

Well my plan is to use retail spaces or manufacturers as a sales platform. I'm making am accessory to a tech item, and I know for a fact it will sell if markedet its an improved mouse trap you could say.

There's not really any marketing planned pre launch. My plan is to use a good launch pad and get initial sales on Kickstarter and indiegogo. This will cover my MOQ from manufacturer.
From there I want to use my proof of viability and attempt to sell my exclusivity to a select few very large businesses, or go as broad as possible, depending on the result.

Hope that makes sense.

You can have a single distribution centre ship worldwide. That's probably the easiest thing to start with.

If you google them they're easy to find. I looked into this myself several years ago and took a few meetings with a couple of places - do some googling and pickup the phone!

My startup is actually a new take on product fulfillment that solves this kind of problem with no MOQ so as to be more feasible for other startups and lower costs than the big 3PLs since not much overhead.

If you'd like to chat feel free to send me a PM.
