Learn web design first or app development? I am a bit confused.

I am learning web design right now and i plan to make money off it in the future helping people with their sites and freelancing etc.,
I plan to use the money to fund my university and if i make a lot for my business.
Its only been a week of learning web design and i am F*cking bored already.

But i am a bit confused right now.

I had a great idea for an app, which meets the CENTS and solves a problem in my city- would definitely sell.

So i really want to learn app development and create some apps. Earn money creating apps for others and use it to fund my biz/uni.

What should i do?

Web design and app development are incredibly similar. If one has you "F*cking bored" in a week, what makes you think the other will be a good fit for you?

It sounds like you're not impassioned to learn the technology to solve your customer's problems. It's probably not a strength for you.

Perhaps pursue another avenue, like finding another co-founder while you do something that you can sink your teeth into (i.e. sales, marketing, customer development, prototyping, etc.)?

It doesn't make a difference which one you learn first. If you are bored with web development after a week, then I suspect app development won't be much different for you.

When it comes to learning programming, regardless of the type of development, I would say that the problem solving aspect of it is most important. You can learn any type of programming syntax, but beautiful syntax is useless if you can't solve problems.

What you should do is determine whether you are learning development to solve problems or make money.

App development may be a good fit for me. I will be more motivated because i would be doing it for my future biz.

Also, i am doing copy writing and its quite fun- the writing,reading all of it. Marketing interests me a lot.

I do app and web development. They are the same thing with only minor nuances between the two.

Either you're not seeing the connection that learning Web Design/Development has to your future goal (because if App development does, then so does web development), or this is not a strength for you and you need to find another strength to focus on.

Web design. Build MVP version of it. Don't wait till it's perfect. The hardest part is finding traffic/users (I mean for your problem in the city).

Whatever you decide, stick with it for at least six months. I have yet to do that and now I know just enough to feel dreadfully/annoyed/prideful about eight different careers.

seriously. Attention span of a goldfish over here..sigh.

Everything gets boring, hard, or dreadful at some point. Especially on the micro level stuff...

You can sell both services right now and see which one seems to be in more demand.

As for the app idea you have right now... Perhaps you can build the MVP version of it as practice/skill training in your spare time? You could also go all in on it, but if you treat it as a "startup" it will be quite different in how you monetize than simply offering a skilled service.

Now i do.

I got bored learning html from codeacademy and downloaded another course-https://www.udemy.com/course/the-web-developer-bootcamp/.

Great teaching can make all the difference sometimes. I managed to complete the HTML chapter within 2 days and am now learning CSS. CSS is a lot of fun.
