So I am finally about to launch my web business for beta testing, and want to shoot around some marketing and sales ideas with you guys. How would you go about getting companies to sign up? For those of you who don't remember me or what my business is, its a web app that allows customers to order food for delivery and/or pick-up from a multitude of smaller restaurants in a convenient marketplace (like grubhub.com). These are some of my ideas for a successful launch and want your opinions:
1) Cold call restaurants and hire a few friends to help scale the process.
2) Viral: Have an "invitation only" beta release process (like Google did with Gmail and Google Plus) where restaurants (and maybe customers) have to request an invite to sign up. They could also invite other restaurant owners once they are "in." Basically, let the service have an exclusive feel to it and let the customers come to me.
3) Hire some hot girls here at my college to go around and talk to restaurant owners and leave them with a business card with the website. Most of the restaurant owners in my launch area are middle aged men. :smx1:
