We know how it works when a guru finds a skill to teach online, builds a funnel and a course but the average slowlaners don't.
One gap I see in the plan is that once the market is flooded it is hard to get business and a flood of newbies piss the clients off by harassing them with DMs and Emails.
I just read a thread a copywriting forum where copywriters with jobs were complaining about what the flood of people that buy these courses are doing to the market.
1. The experiences freelancers reported having to go through 1000s and 1000s of leads to get even one taker where they did have a 2 to 5% conversion .
2. Their longtime clients are reportedly fed up with get 20, 30 or even 40 cold DMs or emails EACH DAY pitching their novice Copywriting services.
3. The Slowlane Job copywriters wonder why they don't just get a job and save themselves the heartache.
This is what happens when there is a successful group of gurus targeting a specific skill like copywriting (the job) with a laser pointer saying it will make you rich if you follow their system.
The only one that make moneys and then moves on to the next thing to sell is the guru.
The buyers are sold with endless images of the good life they will have once they have done all the steps but when that doesn't happen (except for a rare few) the guru loses future credibility because the market has been flooded. And the buyers have failed at another thing which can be devastating to their financial and actual life.
Those of us that do this should remember that these are real people. Maybe think about limiting the number of students taught so it doesn't ruin the market we are working in (Don't be so greedy as to destroy the market you are promoting)
It isn't just copywriting obviously. This is about thinking about what value you can add to people and to the market not just how much money you can extract from people or the market.
There are innumerable other skills that have been targeted in the same way. Selling beautiful dreams of easy lives filled with wealth without having to do the true Fastlane work of creating something new that has value and solves a problem for real people.
Buyer beware of these programs because once a tons of people are pointed towards one market, it will soon be flooded which will only piss off our future customers and leave you with a dead end slowlane business model.
