Hi all,
i am the new guy, 46 years young, sick of being employed and taking wrong orders from my bosses.
So i want to start to be a business owner myself.
I got 20 Years of IT experience, specialised in application lifecycle management, change management, negotiation, coordination and project management.
What i want:
buy a (really) small running business, learn how to get it off the ground (marketing, facebook ads, stuff like that i have no clue about today)
Then if i made all mistakes i could make, rinse & repeat with the next bigger business.

I believe i am good with people, explaining technical details in a simple form, so it can be understood by non-IT people as well.
So feel free to get in contact if you look for IT experience and want my opinion.
I don't want to leech, i also want to give at least as much as i take from here.
Great forum, very valuable advices i did find here already. Thanks for that!

Welcome!

What's funny is that now as a business owner, you'll be able to make all those stupid decisions and create the office politics yourself.

Its a fun process though.

They'll just be different. :) One thing I've noticed from previous companies I've worked for: they all have a secret sauce that they brew to perfection. Everything else can be a mess (and it usually is), but as long as that sauce comes out right, they're gold. Literally.

Welcome!

If you're as good as your say you are with people, explaining technical details in a simple form, so it can be understood by non-IT people as well, I'd also consider doing video tutorials/lessons. Create maybe a 30 video pack covering the basics of IT, then sell the video pack for X amount of dollars.

@Spikeroo thanks a lot, great idea. I´ll do some research on whats already out there and how i could create something that is unique and / or better than the existing products.
