I have been flitting between the sidewalk and the slowlane for awhile now. I am currently typing this from my bed as my wife watches Tiktoks.
From the beginning, I was born into a lower class household. My father left when I was 4 years and my mother raised my little sister and I, while working two minimum jobs. She believed that to get off the sidewalk I would have to join the slowlane. I wasn't a believer in the slowlane. From an early age all I wanted to do was to own a business and retire by 35.
I have owned several failed businesses starting from middle school. Each failure brought more ridicule from friends and family. Finally, I broke down and went to college. I couldn't stand it. I felt broken. I tried more business ventures that failed and drew more nay-sayers. I met my wife in college. When we had our child, I went to work in a factory like I thought I should to provide for my family. I continued to push against the norms and failed a few more times. It has prompted my family to view my businesses as a joke.
Still as wrong as everyone says I am, I believed the fastlane was there, but I couldn't find any other believers. As I read the millionaire fastlane , I realized there were like minded people and there was a way.
Thanks @MJ DeMarco for making a Phoenix appear where smoldering ashes replaced my entrepreneurial fire.
