Hey guys,

Me and my wife are planning to travel to Europe for a 12 day vacation this December (we're based in Middle East). The places we want to visit are: Prague, Inssbruck, Munich, Interlaken and Zurich.

But after reading some posts on this forum about situation going from bad to worse in Europe in terms of economy and electricity etc, I'm just wondering if its the right time to travel?

I went traveling in Europe a couple of months ago, don't regret anywhere I went, were all awesome places. Prague and Zurich were two places I went to, and in the winter both definitely get snow so for exploring and stuff it might not be the best time to go, would still be a great time though. I went in March and April and the weather was ideal the entire time. In terms of economy ect there weren't any problems with the places I visited.

Hope this helps.

Anytime is a good time to visit Europe.

The only decision necessary is what sort of weather you prefer.

Obviously you are ok with cooler weather so you can experience those Cities when they are geared up for Christmas.

Enjoy yourselved when you come.

Considering the pace of just food price increases in europe in hand with business insolvencies, it may best to only go (in the middle of the oncoming dark winter) if you are very wealthy and don't mind drastically overpaying for everything and your basic necessities on the trip.

IMO the Czech Republic and Germany are not a good idea in the winter (bitterly cold, boring, and you'd be stuck indoors most of the time). You'll definitely love Switzerland, though (and Austria probably as well). When you're in Switzerland, I'd also recommend visiting Liechtenstein.

Don't let the doomsayers ruin your vacation. It's all good. People live as usual. Just don't read the fear-mongering news.

Germany could have gas and electricity disruptions of their own making this winter. Make sure you pick an old hotel/vacation home with a fire place or other means of warming the house. You will want to visit the Christmas markets, which are wonderful. Austria is well wirth a visit during the winter.
