Hello everyone, my name is Bob, I’m from the Netherlands, and I’m 29 years old.
In daily life, I work as an auto body repair technician, a job I’ve been doing for eight years.
Over the past year, I started working at a new company where I can learn everything about this trade—from assembling and disassembling to dent removal, filling, sanding, and painting cars.
I quit my previous job in 2021 because I wanted to try something different.
I worked at a tree nursery, installed kitchens in people’s homes, did customer service, and worked for an advertising agency.
However, none of these jobs were quite right—they didn’t pay as well as my previous job and didn’t suit me either.
That’s why I eventually returned to my old profession.
I also did dropshipping for 1.5 years, starting at the end of 2021.
The beginning was tough, but things got better over time, and I managed to turn a profit.
After 1.5 years, I decided to sell my webshop and return to a 9-to-5 job.
Why did I sell it? I started facing more and more issues with Shopify, Facebook, TikTok, and competitors.
Ad accounts were getting blocked, competitors filed complaints with Shopify—it made me think, “This isn’t worth it.”
Most of the problems came from long delivery times, poor product quality, and competitors copying.
I learned a lot from this experience: being dependent on other platforms is very risky for your business.
One day, you can be making profits, and the next, you’re earning nothing.
What I do appreciate about an online business is the freedom of location and time, as well as the potential to reach people worldwide.
You can sell to customers all over the globe.
This last part has always stuck with me—I wouldn’t need to commute to work every day, and I wouldn’t need to wake up early every morning.
The Millionaire Fastlane is the first of three books I’ve read; I’m currently reading Escaping the Rat Race. Before this, I read many other books, but I realized I had become more of a “knowledge zombie” because I rarely applied what I learned.
Now, I’m sticking to just these three books, taking action, and trusting that the results will follow!
