Sup guys – howzt!!

I am a South African entrepreneur and self-published author of self-help/entrepreneurship books.

I am on my fourth book, titled ‘The Anxious Entrepreneur.’ To give context of my content, the books before this are: Forget the Business Plan Use This Short Model, Tales of an African Entrepreneur (the best of my blog posts) and Township Biz Fastrack.

Of late, it seems there is a rise of interest in my books from the USA, particularly the latest one. Just recently, I gave an interview to an American podcaster.

I am trying to come up with ways of capturing the American market. I am not a big hit here in South Africa, but I do get steady sales. The market is small and way smaller even for entrepreneurship content.

An idea hit that if I were to visit The States – say for 2 months, I could make headway in establishing my books. N.B, I am not planning to stay there on a permanent basis.

We’ve remotely been trying PR on some mainstream business publications (Entrepreneur, Inc.com, etc). So far we haven’t been successful in this regard.

Maybe the best way to do it is by hitting small publications – but I do not know any.

Maybe the question is twofold:
1. If I were to visit the USA for 2 months, what could I do market and establish my books that side?

- What sort of relationships would I need to establish and with who – before and on the visit?

- Which city/cities should I visit and/or stay in?

- Events to attend?

- How to save money via accommodation, food, transport, etc.

We can call it ‘pulling a Trevor Noah.’

2. How could I do it remotely, i.e. being based in South Africa?

- Hire PR person? My budget wouldn’t be that great either.

- What small time blogs/magazines can we solicit for features and guest blogging?

Please share any idea you have!!
